At the September 14th Guadalupe Center Blanco y Negro Awards ceremony at the Arvest Bank Theatre, the Truman Road Community Improvement District was presented with the Robert Reeds Award. The award was presented to Mr. John Weilert of the TRCID. This award is presented annually for outstanding contribution by a business/institution to the Latino community of Greater Kansas City. The Truman Road CID is proud to work with the nationally-recognized Guadalupe Centers in supporting their continuing efforts for the Kansas City Latino community.
Your CID continually picks up trash and tires throughout the District using Metropolitan Community Services for free labor. These people are working off their court-ordered community service hours.
The CID pays for security patrols throughout the District, primarily at night. North Kansas City Bureau of Investigation (NKCBI) is also available to the members for property security checks and assistance as needed. Their direct number is (816) 471-2335.
Beautification projects such as the terrace and landscaping on either side of the RR bridge just west of Cleveland, plus all of the street trees and planters along Truman Rd.
The CID pays for snow removal along the sidewalks of Truman Rd as needed (2” or more).
To date, the CID has invested over $50,000 in façade improvement grants to business owners within the District. This is an on-going program, call Dick for details.
Your CID recently completed a major investment (over $200,000) in conjunction with the KCPD, installing 15 cameras and license plate readers throughout the District. These are tied in and monitored by the KCPD and have already aided the District in reducing illegal dumping and crime reduction.
